Möbius Twist Ring — Eleven Stones Along the Turn

The same single half-turn, with a line of eleven clear zirconia set into the edge that does the turning — so the stones climb, roll over at the twist and continue on what was the other face. Frosted matte everywhere else, which is what makes the stone line read: eleven bright points on a surface that gives back no reflection of its own. 2.8mm tall, 1.8mm thick, 1.132g in 999 fine silver, stamped 足銀 999.

Setting stones along a Möbius edge is a slightly mischievous thing to do, because that edge is the piece of the geometry that surprises people: a band with one half-twist has a single continuous edge, so a line of stones that appears to cross from front to back is in fact never leaving the same edge at all. The wearer sees stones disappearing round a turn; the shape has not let go of them once. On choosing a piece for what it means rather than what is current, read How Meaning-Based Jewellery Works.

💡 足銀 999 — what fine silver actually means

This ring is stamped 足銀 999 — fine silver, 99.9% pure, a higher purity than 925 sterling and dearer per gram, not cheaper. It is also softer, which is exactly what an adjustable band wants: it eases open and closed to find your fit where a harder alloy springs back. Adjust it gently and rarely, and keep it clear of hard knocks. Being almost entirely silver, it contains no nickel at all. Our 925 vs S925 guide sets the two side by side, and the Silver Care Card covers cleaning.

FAQs

1. Are the stones real diamonds?
No, and we would not describe them as such. They are eleven clear cubic zirconia, set in a line along the twisting edge. Zirconia is a lab-grown stone, cut and polished like a gemstone — far harder-wearing and brighter than glass or paste, and genuinely beautiful in daylight. It is not a diamond, and the price reflects that honestly.

2. Why does this cost more than the plain version when it weighs less?
Because the price follows the work, not the scale. Eleven seats have to be cut into a curving, twisting edge and eleven stones set into them by hand, and that takes far longer than the fraction of a gram of silver the setting removes. A plain band of the same design is lighter work and priced accordingly.

3. What makes it a Möbius band?
The single half-turn. A band twisted twice has two sides like any other; twisted once, it has one continuous surface and one continuous edge — which is the edge the stones follow. The twist is the design, not a decorative kink.

4. How do I find my size, and how does an adjustable band work?
The band is left open at the back, so it flexes across the range in the table rather than locking to one size. Ease it open or closed a little at a time, holding it near the opening and well away from the stone line — never flex a stone-set section. Our UK ring size guide converts UK, US and EU sizes and shows how to measure a finger at home.

5. How do I clean it around the stones?
Warm water, a drop of washing-up liquid and a soft brush, then pat dry — and keep polishing cloths off the frosted surface, since rubbing it turns the matte shiny. Avoid silver dips and ultrasonic cleaners entirely: both are harsh on set stones. Full guidance on the Silver Care Card and across JewelCare™.

How to Style the Möbius Twist Ring

The stone line is narrow enough to wear every day and bright enough to carry an evening on its own, which is an unusual pair of jobs for one ring. Against frosted or brushed bands it is the only thing catching light; against polished silver it competes, so keep the neighbours matte.
