1. Which way round does the word read?
It sits along the band rather than across it, so it reads correctly to the wearer looking down at their own hand. Anyone facing you sees it upside down — which most people find is the right way round for a ring that is really a note to yourself.

2. Will the dark lettering wear away?
It is oxidisation — silver deliberately darkened in the engraved recesses, not ink or paint — and it sits below the surface where fingers do not reach, so it lasts well. 3. What is 足銀 999, and is it better than 925?

Never use a silver dip or an ultrasonic cleaner on an oxidised piece — a dip lifts the darkening in seconds and the word goes flat and illegible, and it cannot be put back at home.
