This is a 5.4mm band that is more space than metal. Silver runs across it in irregular strands that thicken, split and rejoin, leaving openings of no two matching shapes between them, and the top and bottom edges are left wavy rather than trued to a line. Six clear zirconia are set down among the strands — three larger at 1.8mm, three smaller at 1.1mm — sitting flush in the metal rather than raised above it, so they read as glints caught in the structure rather than as a row of stones. 1. Are the stones real diamonds?
No, and we would not describe them as such. They are six clear cubic zirconia — three at 1.8mm and three at 1.1mm — set flush into the silver rather than held up on prongs. Zirconia is a lab-grown stone, cut and polished like a gemstone, far harder-wearing and brighter than glass or paste. It is not a diamond, and the price reflects that honestly.

2. Why are the stones different sizes?
Because the lattice is irregular, so the spaces are too. Three of the openings take a 1.8mm stone and three take a 1.1mm, and scattering them at different scales is what stops the ring reading as a pave band with holes in it. They are meant to be found rather than counted.

3. Is a 5.4mm band comfortable to wear?
More comfortable than a solid band of the same width, which is the advantage of openwork. There is far less metal sitting against the skin, so it breathes and warms to the hand quickly, and the pierced structure has a little give that a solid wide band does not. 4. Will the openings catch on things?

5. Does it need a UK hallmark?

6. How do I find my size, and how do I clean an openwork matte band?
