Open Bow Ring — A Ribbon Drawn in Outline, a Crystal Either Side

Where a solid bow fills its loops, this one draws them — an open outline 6.5mm across with the light passing straight through, and two tails falling below the knot. A single clear crystal sits prong-set on the band to each side, so the sparkle flanks the bow rather than competing with it. At 0.64g in solid 925 sterling silver, it barely registers on the finger.

It is also cut smaller than our usual M–O bands, flexing across roughly UK J to L, which makes it one of the few pieces here that genuinely suits a slimmer finger or a little finger. Outline designs behave differently on the hand from solid ones: they read as line drawings, they disappear at certain angles, and they stack without adding bulk. More on how small pieces carry weight out of proportion to their size in Why Small Objects Hold Big Emotions.

💡 925 or 足銀 999 — why a ring is never pure silver

Pure silver (足銀 999, 99.9%) actually costs a little more per gram — but it is far too soft for a ring, and a band made from it goes out of round on the hand within weeks. 925 sterling silver adds 7.5% copper for hardness: that is what lets a band keep its shape, a setting keep its stone and a polish keep its shine. The engineered choice, not the cheaper one. Genuine 925 develops a soft grey patina that polishes off — green in the grooves means base metal underneath. Full explanation in our 925 vs S925 guide, and day-to-day care on the Silver Care Card.

FAQs

1. This is a smaller size than your other rings — will it fit me?
It is, deliberately. Our adjustable bands typically sit around UK M–O; this one is cut for roughly J–L, so it suits a slimmer ring finger or wears well on a little finger. It still flexes, but it flexes within that smaller range rather than up into M or N. Check where you sit with the UK ring size guide before ordering.

2. Are the stones real diamonds?
No, and we would not describe them as such. They are clear crystals, prong-set in silver so the metal holds each stone in place mechanically rather than with adhesive. They catch light beautifully in daylight; they are not graded gemstones, and the price reflects that honestly.

3. It is very light — is it still solid silver?
Yes. At 0.64g it is light because it is an outline — there is simply less metal in a drawn bow than a filled one — not because it is hollow or plated. It is solid 925 throughout and stamped accordingly. Our guide to identifying genuine 925 covers how to check any silver piece yourself.

4. How do I clean it?
A soft dry cloth for the polished surfaces and a soft dry brush for any recesses. Avoid silver dips and ultrasonic cleaners, which are harsh on set stones and strip the contrast a detailed surface depends on. Full guidance lives on the Silver Care Card and across JewelCare™.

How to Style the Open Bow Ring

Because it adds almost no bulk, this is the ring to put alongside something heavier — a solid heart band or a wider patterned piece — rather than wearing alone. Browse the full Rings range and the 925 Sterling Silver collection, or read more at JewelLearn™.
