The care kit that comes with knowing your silver
A zip bag on its own is not good storage for sterling silver — sealed with nothing else, it traps humidity and tarnish-causing gases against the metal. Sealed with an anti-tarnish strip inside, it becomes one of the most effective methods there is: a small, dry, controlled space the strip can keep clean.
This pack gives you two of those spaces, plus a cloth to restore anything that has already dulled. Every 925 sterling silver order already arrives with one strip and one JewelHub™ zip bag — this pack doubles that and adds the polishing cloth.

How to use it
- Buff the piece dry with the cloth, using short strokes rather than circles. Never rinse or wash the cloth — washing strips out the agent that does the work. Grey marks on the cloth are the tarnish you have just removed.
- Place the piece in a zip bag with one strip. The strip only works in an enclosed space.
- Write the date on the strip's printed panel, seal the bag, and keep it somewhere cool and dry. Not the bathroom.
- Replace the strips at around three months, or as required.
One caveat. Do not seal pearls, opal, turquoise, coral or enamel this way — organic and porous materials need a little ambient humidity, and the cloth should be kept off them too. Use a soft pouch instead.
When you need more
This is a taster kit sized for one or two pieces. To cover a whole jewellery box, the 36-pack of storage strips protects several enclosed spaces at once, and the full 12.5 x 17.5cm cloth handles a full tray of rings. For 14k and 18k pieces, use the gold and platinum polishing cloth instead. All three are made in Great Britain by Town Talk.
