Eighty-two natural diamonds hand-set across a pair of 18k gold earrings weighing 8.33 grams. The stones are graduated in three measured sizes rather than uniform: a single 2.8mm diamond anchors each earring, five 2.2mm stones ring it, and a field of thirty-five stones at 1.5mm fills the ground behind them. That is what gives a piece like this its particular quality of light - not one bright point, but a continuous shimmer that shifts as the earring moves, because no two stones catch at quite the same angle.

This pair was made by our founder's mother. She made them for herself, and she never wore them. They are a one-off - not a design we can reproduce, not a line we can restock, and not something that passed through a factory. The setting work is what she chose to spend her time on: eighty-two seats cut and closed by hand for stones that are, most of them, barely more than a millimetre across. We have listed them because a pair of earrings that has never been worn is not doing what earrings are for.

1. Is this genuinely a one-off?
Yes. It was made by our founder's mother for her own wear, from her own notes, and there is no second pair. When it sells we cannot reorder it, remake it, or offer anything identical.

2. How big is each stone?
Measured, they run in three sizes: one 2.8mm diamond and five at 2.2mm on each earring, with the remaining thirty-five per side at 1.5mm. Fine pave is never about individual stone size; it is about covering a surface so completely in light that the metal underneath stops reading as metal, and that only works when the small stones are genuinely small and set close.

3. What condition are they in?
Unworn. They were finished and then put away, so they come to you as they left the bench.

4. Are the diamonds certified?
They are natural diamonds, uncertified. The stone count and the measured diameters are ours, checked by hand; the carat total of approximately 1.15 comes from the maker's own record of the piece rather than from a laboratory report. That is normal for pave stones of this size, where certifying each one would cost more than it could ever prove.

5. How should pave-set gold be looked after?
Gently and regularly. Dust and skin oil collect between close-set stones and dull them faster than anything else, so a soft brush in warm soapy water every few weeks does more good than any polish. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and knocks against hard surfaces. Full guidance is on our Gold Care Card.

6. Why gold, for a piece meant to last?
