Jade Bi Disc Drop Earrings - Ringed Green Stone on Gold

Two circles of natural jade, 12mm across with an open centre, each threaded onto a plain gold bar and hung from a small polished gold ball at the lobe. The stone is a mottled mid green - deeper patches drifting across a paler ground, with the faint cloudiness that light sinks into. The pair weighs 2.21 grams in 14k solid gold. Nothing is engraved, textured or added; the whole design is a ring of stone and a line of gold through it.

The pierced disc is the oldest worked shape in Chinese jade and one of the oldest in any material anywhere - versions survive from around five thousand years ago, ground out with sand and patience long before anyone had a metal tool that could touch the stone.
