Emerald & Diamond Floral Ring – Vintage Craft in Hallmarked 14K Gold

A 3mm round emerald, approximately 0.1 carats, sits at the centre of a six-petal flower — and each petal carries a round diamond, eight in total at roughly 2mm each, about 0.08ct together. The head is pierced and hand-finished rather than cast solid, so light passes through the gaps between petals, and the shank crosses over itself in a soft asymmetric sweep instead of meeting the setting straight on. It is a genuine vintage Hong Kong floral design of the early 2000s, and it is the kind of goldwork that is rarely made now: fiddly, hand-set, and completely out of step with today's cast minimalism.

1. There are marks inside the emerald — is something wrong with it?
No. Those are jardin — French for garden — the fine internal veils and crystals that form as an emerald grows in rock. Virtually every natural emerald has them, and gemmologists use them to confirm a stone is genuine rather than synthetic. This one includes a small pale cloud, which is part of its individuality: no two emeralds are alike. 2. Does this ring come with a gemstone certificate?
No — it is sold uncertificated, and we would rather say so plainly. The gold carries an independently struck 585 hallmark; the stone measurements, carat estimates and ring weight are our own, taken in-house. That is normal for individually sourced vintage jewellery, where certification often costs more than the stone. Any gemmologist can examine it after purchase, and our returns window gives you time to do so.

3. Why is a vintage setting like this worth having?
Because it was made by hand at a scale that is no longer commercially viable. The petals are pierced and individually grain-set, the head is built up rather than cast in one piece, and the crossover shank is shaped by eye.
