The Key From the Back of a Drawer
An old-fashioned key in gold-tone stainless steel - a quatrefoil bow with a fluted rosette at its centre, a collared shaft, and a small toothed bit at the tip. It is the shape of a cabinet or clock key rather than a door key. It measures 12mm wide by 25mm tall.
At 2.11g and 2.6mm thick it has proper body, and the same pattern is worked on the reverse - bow, rosette, collar and all - so it reads correctly whichever way it turns on a bracelet.

No stones and no enamel, so nothing can work loose, and stainless steel does not tarnish, rust or turn skin green. The cut-outs in the bow and the fluting on the rosette will hold hand cream - rinse, dry properly, and use a soft dry brush rather than a cloth, which will catch in the openwork. 1. Is the back the same as the front?
Yes. The bow, the rosette and the collar are worked on both faces, so it reads correctly however it hangs.
2. Can the back be engraved?
No - the reverse carries the full pattern rather than a plain panel.
3. Does it actually open anything?
No. It is a charm in the shape of an antique cabinet key, not a working key.
4. It reacts slightly to a magnet - is that a problem?
No. Cast stainless steel normally contains a small amount of ferrite, deliberately, because it stops the metal cracking as it solidifies - that is what a magnet finds.
