Stitched Bunny Head Charm - Long Ears and a Pink Lining

The rabbit to our bear. A domed bunny face in polished gold-tone stainless steel, 12.5mm wide by 16.5mm tall and 4.4mm deep at 3.4g, with two long ears rising above the head and a neat little muzzle below. The ears carry a soft pink enamel lining down their centres, the eyes are set in black enamel, and a fine engraved nose and mouth complete the face.

That pink is the whole trick. On a charm made entirely of gold the eye has nothing to fix on; two narrow strips of colour in the ears give it a focal point and, more importantly, make the piece read instantly as a rabbit rather than a generic animal head. 1. Will the pink enamel fade?
No. Enamel is coloured glass or resin fired into recesses cut in the metal, so the colour goes all the way through rather than sitting on the surface as a coating. It can chip on a hard knock, but it will not fade or rub off with wear.

3. What are the stitch marks?
Engraved dashes cut into the steel around the face and ears, imitating the seam of a sewn plush toy. They are cut into the metal rather than printed, so they will not wear away.

4. It reacts slightly to a magnet - is that a problem?
No. Cast stainless steel normally contains a small amount of ferrite, deliberately, because it stops the metal cracking as it solidifies - that is what a magnet finds. 5. How does it attach?
