Enamel Sea Turtle Charm - Gold Stainless Steel Purple - 17.6x23.3mm
Enamel Sea Turtle Charm - A Whole Reef on One Shell
A sea turtle in gold-tone stainless steel with all four flippers spread mid-swim, a small domed head with black enamel eyes, and a beaded gold rim running right around the shell. The shell itself is the piece: a starfish, a hibiscus flower and a scallop shell are raised out of it in gold, then flooded around with lilac and pale pink enamel so the motifs read as a reef seen through water.
At 17.6mm wide by 23.3mm tall and 2.6mm deep it is a proper mid-size charm at only 2.11g. The reverse is not left blank - it carries the same starfish worked as a raised gold pattern across the underside, so the turtle is finished on both faces even though only the front is coloured. Enamel is fired into recesses cut in the metal rather than glued on top, so there is nothing here that can fall out.

Choose Charm + Gold Chain and this charm arrives with our Gold Paperclip Chain Bracelet - fine-gauge stainless steel, elongated 4mm x 12mm links drawn from 1mm wire, closing with a lobster clasp and an extender that runs the fit from 16cm out to 20cm, so it settles on most wrists. Half the world's creation stories put the earth on a turtle's back, from India to the Iroquois - it is the animal that carries everything and never hurries. Hawaiian tradition calls it honu and reads it as a guide who always finds the way home, which is why it turns up on so much travel jewellery. It can live over a century, so it is also simply longevity. A gift for her going somewhere, or coming back. Enamel is fired into recesses in the metal, so unlike a glued stone there is nothing to work loose - but it can chip on a hard knock, and strong solvents dull its gloss. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, take it off before the gym, and wipe with a soft dry cloth. Full guidance at our Steel Care Card and the JewelCare™ hub.
FAQs
1. Will the enamel come off?
It cannot fall out the way a glued crystal can, because it is set into recesses cut in the steel rather than sitting on the surface. It can chip if you knock it hard against something, which is the one thing worth avoiding.
2. Is the colour on both sides?
No. The enamel is on the shell only; the underside is patterned gold with the same starfish raised in metal. That is deliberate - it keeps the charm light and gives it a quieter face to sit against the wrist.
3. Can the back be engraved?
No - the underside is patterned rather than flat, so there is no clear panel. Our flat-backed charms are the ones for a name or a date.
4. What is the difference from the turquoise one?
Only the colourway. The turquoise and yellow turtle is the same casting in a brighter, more tropical palette; this one is softer and reads closer to a sunset. The two together on one bracelet look deliberate rather than indecisive.
5. Can I wear it in the sea?
Best not, despite the motif. Salt and chlorine both attack the ion-plated gold finish over time, and enamel prefers to stay dry. Take it off before you swim.
How to Style the Sea Turtle
Colour wants quiet around it, so keep the neighbouring charms plain gold and let the shell be the thing people look at. It sits naturally beside our seahorse and starfish pieces for a full ocean run on a FortunaLink™ bracelet. Browse the whole MiniCharm™ range, or start your stack at JewelBuild™.
