An Organic Face, a Gold Edge
A softly irregular heart in two-tone stainless steel - the face worked in silver-tone with a loose organic texture of ridges and scattered dashes, the outer edge and the lower point finished in gold-tone. The silhouette is deliberately off-square rather than a symmetrical valentine, and at 18.2mm wide by 18.2mm tall it is exactly as wide as it is high.
At 1.88g and 2.2mm thick it is the lightest of the two-tone hearts in this release, which makes it the easy one to add to a bracelet that already has three or four charms on it. The texture is cast into the metal rather than applied, so it will not wear off the high points over time.

The smooth symmetrical heart is a printing-press shape - it standardised in the 15th century because woodblocks and playing cards needed a form that could be cut identically every time. Handmade devotional and folk hearts before that were lopsided, hammered and irregular, and read as more sincere for it. A worked surface traps hand cream, soap and dust in a way a polished one does not, and on a two-tone piece that dulls the contrast between the gold edge and the silver face first. Rinse in warm water, dry properly, and use a soft dry brush across the ridges rather than a polishing cloth, which will only ride over the top. 1. Can the back be engraved?
No. The reverse carries the same texture in silver relief, so there is no flat area to work on. The Hollow Heart (IHSMC064) and the Pave Arch (IHSMC069) are the engravable backs in this release.
2. Is the texture applied or cast in?
Cast into the metal, then plated over. It cannot rub off, and the high points will not wear back to a different colour.
3. Is it really as wide as it is tall?
Yes - 18.2mm both ways. That is unusual for a heart and it is why the outline reads as rounded rather than pointed.
4. Are there any stones?
None. All metal.
