Classic Scroll Plaque Charm - Two-Tone Stainless Steel - 15x21.5mm
A Gold Heart on an Engraved Silver Plate
A small rectangular plaque with a rounded top, worked all over in silver-tone stainless steel with cut lines, beading and fan-shaped rays. Four gold-tone scrolls sit at the corners, curling inward, and a smooth gold heart rises from the centre of the plate on a bed of raised silver beads.
The reason it works is the contrast in surface rather than just in colour. Everything on the plate is cut, scored or beaded; the heart is the only polished thing on it, so the eye goes straight there and stays. At 2.5g on a 21.5mm plate it hangs flat and reads clearly from a distance, which not every detailed charm manages.
Turn it over and the whole design is there in relief - the scrolls, the beading, the heart - all in silver. It is the back of the embossed pattern rather than a second finished face, and there is no gold on that side.

Choose Charm only to add it to a bracelet you already own. Charm + Clasp adds a small lobster clasp so it clips straight on - no pliers, no open links - and it works just as well on a bag, a zip pull, a keyring or a watch strap. Charm + Gold Chain or Charm + Silver Chain pairs it with our Gold or Silver Paperclip Chain Bracelet - fine-gauge stainless steel, adjustable from 16cm to 20cm. Bought as a set they cost 30% less than buying separately. Because this charm is two-tone, either chain works with it.
A heart raised at the centre of a decorated metal plate is one of the oldest formats in European folk jewellery, and it has a specific job: it is a votive. In Spain, Portugal, Italy and later across Latin America, small stamped hearts were made to be left at a shrine as thanks for something that had gone right - a recovery, a safe return, a birth. They were called milagros, miracles, and they were deliberately plain in the middle and ornate around the edge, exactly like this one. The scroll is the other half of the story: a spiral drawn as ornament, running from Ionic columns to Celtic stonework to punched tin, always used to say this thing at the centre matters. A gift for her as thanks, rather than as decoration. More motif meanings at JewelMotif™
No stones and no enamel here, so this is a forgiving charm - stainless steel does not tarnish, rust or turn skin green. The only real care is the engraved detail, which holds hand cream, soap and perfume in its grooves and will look dull if it builds up. Rinse, dry, and go over it occasionally with a soft dry toothbrush. Full guidance at our Stainless Steel Care Card and the JewelCare™ hub.
FAQs
1. Is the back plain? No - the design comes through in silver relief. It is the reverse of the embossing, not a separate design, and there is no gold on that side. Not an engraving panel.
2. Are there any stones? None. The whole effect is metal, texture and the two tones.
3. Gold or silver bracelet? Either. It carries both metals, so it is the charm that makes a mixed stack look deliberate.
4. Can it be engraved? Not really - both faces are worked. For a blank engraving surface see the Heart Cluster (IHSMC060) or the Northern Star octagon (IHSMC049).
5. Does it arrive gift-ready? Yes - every order is packed to give. See JewelGift™.
How to Style the Scroll Plaque
This is a flat, upright, rectangular charm, which makes it a good anchor among rounder shapes - hang it in the middle and let hearts and discs sit either side. It also belongs with IHSMC058, the Radiant Heart: same family of votive plaques, different treatment, and worn together they read as a set rather than two similar things. Hang it on a DuoTone™ or FortunaLink™ bracelet, browse the whole MiniCharm™ range, or start your stack at JewelBuild™.
