A Gold Scarab on a Silver Oval
An oval plate in two-tone stainless steel with a scarab beetle raised across it in gold-tone - wing cases, thorax and legs all modelled - against a lightly textured silver ground, with a gold beaded edge running round part of the rim. It measures 13.7mm wide by 17.2mm tall and 2.6mm thick.
At 1.7g it has enough substance to sit still on the wrist rather than flipping, and the oval is deliberately irregular rather than a perfect ellipse, so the plate reads as struck rather than machined. The gold sits only on the beetle and the rim, which is what makes the two tones read clearly at arm's length.

1. Can the back be engraved?
No. The reverse carries the scarab shape through in silver relief, so there is no flat panel. The Snake Oval Plate (IHSMC073) in this same release has a genuinely plain mirror back.
2. Are there any stones?
None. All metal - the gold is an ion-plated tone on the same stainless steel body, not a separate piece.
3. What does a scarab mean?

4. It reacts slightly to a magnet - is that a problem?
No. Cast stainless steel normally contains a small amount of ferrite, deliberately, because it stops the metal cracking as it solidifies - that is what a magnet finds.
