A Cross Inside a Cross
A gold-tone stainless steel cross with softly rounded, slightly flared arms, and a second slimmer cross laid down the middle of it in black enamel. The gold around the black is finely ridged, so the two read as different surfaces rather than one flat shape. It measures 13mm wide by 20.3mm tall.
At 1.4g it is light enough to wear every day and solid enough to hang straight. The reverse is plain polished gold.

1. Is the black enamel or a stone?
Enamel, run down the centre of the cross. There are no stones on this charm, so nothing can work loose - the trade-off is that enamel can chip on a hard knock.
2. Can the back be engraved?
No. The reverse is plain polished gold but it follows the cross shape rather than being a flat panel, and the arms are only a few millimetres wide.
3. Will the black wear off?
Enamel is fused glass rather than paint, so it does not rub away with wear. What damages it is a sharp knock against something harder.
4. It reacts slightly to a magnet - is that a problem?
No. Cast stainless steel normally contains a small amount of ferrite, deliberately, because it stops the metal cracking as it solidifies - that is what a magnet finds.
