Sapphire & Diamond Ring – Cornflower Blue in Hallmarked 14K Gold

This is the easy one to wear. An oval sapphire of roughly 4.5 x 6.2mm and approximately 0.75 carats sits in four fine gold claws — and rather than ringing it with a full halo, the design cradles it with two small diamond-set lobes, one above and one below, so the stone is framed north and south but left open at the sides. From there, 16 pave diamonds of about 1mm each run down split shoulders toward the band. Sixteen small stones, and not one of them competing with the sapphire.

The blue is the point. This is a bright cornflower rather than a deep navy — light passes right through it, so it stays vivid indoors instead of going dark, and against warm yellow gold it reads clean and modern rather than antique. 1. Does this ring come with a gemstone certificate?
No — it is sold uncertificated, and we would rather say so plainly. The gold carries an independently struck 585 hallmark; the stone measurements, carat estimates and ring weight are our own, taken in-house. That is normal for individually sourced fine jewellery at this level, where laboratory certification often costs more than it adds. If you want independent verification, any gemmologist can examine the stone after purchase, and our returns window gives you time to do so.

2. Are sapphire and ruby the same stone?
Yes — both are corundum. Red corundum is called ruby; every other colour, including this blue, is sapphire. Blue comes from traces of iron and titanium, red from chromium. That shared identity puts sapphire at 9 on the Mohs scale, making it one of very few coloured stones genuinely suited to everyday wear. 3. Is this a halo ring?
Not quite, and the difference is worth knowing. A true halo encircles the centre stone completely with small stones. Here, two diamond-set lobes sit above and below the sapphire while the sides stay open — so you see the stone's own oval outline rather than a bright ring around it. It is a quieter effect: the diamonds frame and lift the sapphire instead of enlarging it.

4. What does the 585 hallmark mean?
585 parts pure gold per 1,000 — 14 karat, or 58.5% gold. (750 is 18k; 375 is 9k.) 14K is the harder of the two fine-gold standards, which suits a slim band carrying 16 small pave stones: the metal holds its shape and the settings stay tight. 5. Will UK Q fit me?
UK Q is US 8.25 and EU 57, with an 18.2mm internal diameter and a 57mm circumference — one of the larger sizes, and worth measuring against those figures rather than guessing. 6. Can I stack it?
Yes — at 2.75g on a slim band with a low-sitting stone, this is the most stackable coloured-stone ring in our fine range. Avoid stacking it against other gem-set rings, since the pave edge will mark a plain band over time if pressed hard against it.
